Control Fraud Natively with ToneLock™

Guarantee that only intended receivers can demodulate ultrasonic tone payloads with ToneLock™, the built-in security feature of the Radius® SDK.

Fraud Control Features

Embedded Lock on Tone Payloads

ToneLock™ is an advanced security mechanism specifically designed to safeguard data transmissions. This feature employs a cutting-edge safety feature to ensure that only pre-authorized receivers can demodulate the tones. By embedding a customizable signature (UUID) within the ultrasonic tones, ToneLock™ ensures the integrity and confidentiality of the data being transmitted, effectively preventing any unauthorized interception or eavesdropping.

Since ToneLock™ is already built into the SDK, companies who use Radius have an out-of-the-box additional line of defense against fraud without the need for secondary hardware or complex modifications so that you can:

Enhance Data Security. Protects sensitive data and transactions from unauthorized access by adding a unique UUID to the payload.
Reduce Fraud Risk. Minimizes the chances of data interception and fraud by augmenting existing security protocols.
Simplify Implementation. LISNR now offers hands-on and hands-off capabilities to lock tones between devices.

AES256 Encryption

Encryption, starting in Radius® 3.1, LISNR® customers have the ability to encrypt their ultrasonic payloads using the Radius® product. The Radius® SDK will be able to encrypt/decrypt tone data using AES256, along with the Tone Service API being able to produce mp3/wav files that are encrypted. The Radius® SDK will not be able to decrypt data encrypted by another application using the Radius® SDK unless the same account provides the application. Encryption functionality can occur offline. Encryption will be available for all tone profiles.

Since encryption is built into the SDK, companies who use Radius have an out-of-the-box additional line of defense against fraud without the need for secondary hardware or complex modifications so that you can:

Enhance Data Security. Industry trusted standard for secure data communication.
Reduce Fraud Risk. Payload is obfuscated upon transmission.
Simplify Implementation. No additional installation is required.

Fraud Control Benefits

Built-in security features are crucial for protecting data and transactions from unauthorized access.

ToneLock™ significantly enhances the security of data transmissions, ensuring that only intended recipients can access the information. This robust protection is crucial for preventing fraud and maintaining the integrity of sensitive transactions.

By implementing advanced security measures like ToneLock™, businesses can significantly boost customer confidence. Knowing that their data is secure encourages customers to engage more freely, fostering loyalty and long-term relationships.

Adhering to stringent security regulations and standards is essential for many industries. ToneLock™ helps businesses meet these requirements, reducing the risk of non-compliance penalties and enhancing their reputation for security.

Frequently Asked Questions

Looking to better understand Radius fraud control? Below are some commonly asked questions and answers.

What is ToneLock™?

ToneLock™ is a security feature of LISNR’s Radius SDK that ensures only authorized receivers can demodulate transmitted ultrasonic tones, protecting data from unauthorized access and interception.

How does ToneLock™ enhance security?

ToneLock™ is a LISNR® created tone security protocol that ensures payloads can only be demodulated by intended devices.

Can ToneLock™ be integrated with existing systems?

Yes, ToneLock™ is designed for seamless integration with existing systems and is already built into LISNR’s ultrasonic SDK, Radius(R). It does not require additional hardware to set a UUID or to demodulate tones, making it easy to implement and enhance your current security measures.

What types of data can be protected using ToneLock™?

ToneLock™ can secure a variety of data types, including payment information, personal identification data, access credentials, and confidential communications. It is particularly useful in scenarios where data integrity and confidentiality are paramount.

Is ToneLock™ suitable for mobile applications?

Yes, ToneLock™ is highly suitable for mobile applications. It can enhance the security of mobile transactions and communications without impacting the user experience, providing robust protection on the go.

How does ToneLock™ compare to other security methods like BLE or NFC?

ToneLock™ offers a unique advantage over BLE and NFC by operating through ultrasonic tones, which do not require internet connectivity or line-of-sight. This makes it a versatile and secure option for various environments and use cases.

What type of data or use cases do you recommend using Radius encryption feature with?

LISNR® recommends encryption for any transaction where companies are sending sensitive or personal information.

Can a company encrypt its own payloads?

Yes, encryption will be an optional functionality within Radius®. Companies are still able to encrypt their own payloads for transmitting and receiving functionality within the Radius® SDK.

Who is responsible for key management for the LISNR® encryption process?

LISNR manages all of the keys for encrypted Radius® payloads. Encryption keys will not be provided to the customer. A 256-bit key will be generated by LISNR® using a unique identifier for each LISNR® Portal account.

What tone profiles can encryption be used with?

Encryption can be used with all tone profiles.

Encryption will add 2 Bytes to Zone66 payloads and 4 Bytes to all payloads with other tone profiles. Exact times for encryption can be found using the tone speed calculator located in the LISNR Portal.
