Refill and LISNR Partner Launching Advanced Contactless Solutions

LISNR, the global leader in proximity solutions, announced its partnership with Refill Technologies, a mobile ordering leader, to facilitate contactless transactions as they expand across venues and retail.

Currently, establishments struggle with lines to gain entry and overcrowding service counters making access to goods very challenging. Incumbent modalities like the QR code or “tap to pay” continue to require close proximity and thus present a multitude of safety and congestion issues. By working together, LISNR and Refill initially will provide ultrasonic authentication for purposes such as ticketing and mobile ordering where proximity verification occurs at fulfillment.

“LISNR identified Refill as a strong strategic partner in the merchant service space,” said Eric Allen, CEO, LISNR. “In these times where overcrowded venues can pose a serious health risk, we believe that the partnership between LISNR and Refill can effectively solve the problem of congestion at fulfillment in these establishments.”

In 2020, due to the pandemic, restaurant and foodservice sales missed forecasted projections to the tune of $240 Billion. As consumers return to normally congested venues in this “new normal”, they are going to expect safe and secure ordering and fulfillment solutions. Rapidly, these types of solutions have become an essential element to the customer experience.

“By partnering with LISNR, we will be able to easily implement a secure & contactless form of authentication at fulfillment. As venues start to allow more and more capacity, it’s imperative that the correct tech solution is in place that ensures both a safe method of authentication and doesn’t compromise the customer experience. We believe that LISNR enables us to provide that solution”. – Anthony Reynolds, CEO, Co-Founder, REFILL

LISNR’s ultrasonic ‘data-over-sound’ technology enables contactless proximity verification and authentication across commerce experiences for merchants, financial service providers, and mobility companies. Today, multiple Fortune 100 companies trust LISNR to power data transmission & authentication between devices. Founded in 2012, LISNR is located in Oakland, CA, and Cincinnati, OH. Major investors include Visa, Intel, Jump Capital, NTT DOCOMO Ventures, Mercury Fund, R/GA, and Synchrony Financial. To learn more about the LISNR technology visit: or email
